At the beginning of the month, Noah started to feel sick. He complained of a sore throat. We let it go a couple of days over the weekend, and then took him to a local doctor in Motul on Monday. He prescribed some antibiotics to take and said he should start feeling better in a couple of days. But Noah only got worse. After two days, we returned to the same doctor, and after looking at Noah's throat, he then told us to take him to a nose-ear-throat specialist in Merida. Natalie was able to make an appointment for just a couple of hours later in Merida. After the specialist saw Noah's throat, he immediately told us that he needed to be admitted to the hospital. His infection was very serious, and if we didn't get antibiotics into his system through an IV, he could have developed an abscess, and they could have had to operate.

For those who are on our email list, we sent out an update every night while Noah was in the hospital so you could stay informed and pray. We were told it was a mix of a viral and bacterial infection. Natalie was able to stay with Noah in the hospital for five days until he was released. When Noah was finally able to come home, he then needed to stay home for a week as his defenses were low and his throat still wasn't completely healed. He continued taking a lot of medication and saw the specialist one week later. To our surprise, his throat still wasn't clear, and then he needed to continue on more medication and take it easy.
Since then, we have gone and had another check-up with the specialist. He confirmed that his throat was clear of infection, but the back of his throat might be tender. Noah was cleared to go back to his normal activities, such as going out of the house and to the gym, but he needs to make a few adjustments with watching what he eats at night and being careful until his next visit with the doctor, which will be in six weeks.
Up to this point, his medical expenses have come up to $6,475.27. We thank each of you who has given us extra financial support to help us. We still have a lot to pay off, and we continue to pray for the Lord's provision in this time. If you would like to help, you can give by clicking one of the links below. Please just put a note that it is for "Noah's Medical Expenses."
The same week that Natalie and Noah returned home from the hospital, we had our VBS and youth mission team arrive from Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. We had 30 volunteers from our church commit to helping with our 3-night Vacation Bible School. With Hurricane Erick making landfall on the west coast of Mexico at the same time as our VBS, two of our three nights were a bit rainy. But even so, we had 50 kids come this year! The kids learned that every superhero had a superpower, a weakness, and a mission. And as God's kids, we have those things also. We saw five new families come to church that weekend!! It was such a blessing to see such fruit! You can get a glimpse of what went on these three nights by watching our video recap of our VBS.
The mission team's main focus was to come and support the VBS outreach. They did a great job with their superhero capes and costumes with connecting with the kids! There was always a lot of clean-up and set up each day... and with the rainy weather, it made it a lot more work. But they worked hard and served well side-by-side with the church volunteers from Calvary Motul. We pray that we will continue to see more spiritual fruit come as we have our doors open.
We ended this month with our monthly women's night. Even though we are currently studying through the Sermon on the Mount, we took a break from it this month to just have a night of fun. Natalie planned a game night and split everyone up into 2 teams... let's just say that this was the latest the women's night ever went! The game of Jenga alone took over an hour to play! So many smiles and laughter... it was good medicine for our souls. We had 2 new ladies come for their first time, and it seemed that they enjoyed their time and connected with the other ladies. It is amazing how many new people we have who come to the women's night and feel welcome. Thank You, Lord, for continuing to do Your work!
