FAMILY SUNDAY

This month, we had our first "Family Sunday." This is when we set up more tables and chairs, have the outside games set up, and the full menu of the cafe is available for lunch. We encourage families to stay longer and spend time together playing games and fellowshipping with others after church on the first Sunday of every month. Our first one seemed to go really well, and everyone had a good time.

Noah turned 18 this month. We went out to dinner in Merida to celebrate his birthday. Less than two weeks later, he bought his first car. He is pursuing working with Len on air-conditioning jobs, he is taking college classes online, and actively serving in the church. We are so proud of him and how he has grown and matured.
A good friend of ours contacted us this month, asking if she could come over and stay with us for about a week... and about 2 weeks later - she was here! We had such a great time. Because the cafe was a little slow that week, Natalie was able to take off a couple of days and go to some places like the Hubiku cenote, the zoo, the beach, and downtown Merida. During the rest of the time, she tagged along with our everyday schedule and was a big help. We hope she comes back again!

We have entered the rainy season now, and it has hit us hard! This month, we had to cancel women's night due to heavy rain and power outages. We postponed it to the following week, and again, the rain was heavy all day long. We considered cancelling it again, but Natalie offered to pick anyone up who needed it (as not everyone has a car). Natalie and a friend first pulled up to the church to open it up before going around picking everyone up. As they opened the front door and turned the lights on, they saw that the first 3 rooms were flooded. We then canceled the women's night and called Len to come help us get all of the water out. We don't know how much damage was done, as a lot of water came down on some of the electronics. In a few days, we hope to know the extent of damage, but we pray it's little to none.
