PREPARING FOR THE BIG STUFF

We have started preparing for the big events that will happen this summer – Youth Summer Camp and VBS. It will be our first year offering a 2-night getaway to a location near the beach for a time of devotions, worship, teaching, and of course, fun! We are keeping it small – it is offered only to our church youth (ages 10-15) and they are allowed to invite one friend. We hope to have 15-20 youth total – a mix of believers and unbelievers… but hopefully all believers by the time the weekend is over! Our youth leader and his wife, along with us and maybe one or two more volunteers, will be hands on. Please keep these upcoming weeks in your prayers as we have already started preparing and planning. Pray that all of the youth will be able to come from our church and their friends that they invite will be allowed to as well. Pray that in this weekend God would change their lives in a big way and they will walk away with memories for a lifetime.

In August our VBS will be back! It will have been 3 years! We are super excited and Natalie is already putting the curriculum together. In the years past, we had 80-100 kids come per day. We don’t know what it will be like now after Covid, but we pray that the restrictions that we still are currently under won’t keep the kids away. Please pray for Natalie as she writes the curriculum and put all of the details together. Pray that we will have more than enough volunteers. Pray that there will be even more kids that will come this year than in year’s past and that they will hear and receive the good news of Jesus Christ as well as their parents!

This month we hosted the pastors’ breakfast at our church. The pastors and leaders of the different Calvary Chapels in the state of Yucatan (and a few beyond) meet once a month for breakfast and a time of sharing. Different Calvary Chapels take turns at hosting this event. We were happy to host them this month and serve them a well-known breakfast from Motul – huevos motuleños. In the morning they ate together in the café and then had a time of worship and a devotion was shared by Len in the sanctuary.

We continue to work on the children’s ministry worship center / youth room. This month we had the air conditioner installed and Natalie painted the room. We are hoping to complete this room in June with installing the front doors, putting up the sound panels for the walls, and buying some chairs. Even though we don’t have any sound or video equipment yet, we could start using it with a portable speaker that we have for children’s worship on Sundays and also on youth nights. The rainy season has now started so it would be a great place to have for the youth to meet since they normally are outside and there are a lot of rainy nights to come.
