1ST YOUTH SUMMER CAMP

Our first ever youth summer camp took place this month. We had 10 kids attend, some of them were ones that have only come to our youth nights. It was huge that their parents allowed them to come to camp! Prior to our 3-day youth camp it had been raining a lot every day; but the Lord blessed us with clear skies the whole time we were there! We rented a large house that was in Telchac Puerto, a little beach town about 20 minutes away from Motul. We left on Friday morning and started with breakfast and some time in worship and a devotional led by Len. There were plenty of times we had group games outside where the kids got to learn how to work together and have some fun. We had a group teaching both Friday night and Saturday night. On Friday night, Pastor Sammy from Calvary Chapel Merida was our guest speaker. On Saturday, Abimael (our youth leader), shared a message around a bonfire. The youth also had a chance to prepare some handwritten messages and go to the beach park to hand them out with some tracts. For most, this was their first time ever doing something like this. Overall, it was a great weekend and we pray that the Lord used this time in their lives to help their spiritual roots grow even deeper. Thank you for your prayers!

At the end of the month, we had 2 nights in a row of bad thunderstorms. The first night we saw wind gusts of up to 50 mph. Our new roof on the youth building got tested, and unfortunately, in some areas it failed and much rain leaked inside the interior walls. We are hoping for some dry weather in these next few days so we can look at it getting repaired.

We are getting the property nice and ready because our biggest outreach of the year is coming up. V B S. We just put registration online and received 12 sign-ups in the first 24 hours! Natalie is still working hard at putting all of the details together, but the volunteers and schedule is already put into place. We also have a team of six people coming from Calvary Chapel Lake Buena Vista to specifically help us with this 3-day VBS. We have our VBS meeting for all of the volunteers on August 14. All of the volunteers will learn their responsibilities, the schedule, safety protocols, and prep the crafts. With not knowing exactly how many kids will come, we will prepare for 100. There could be more, there could be less. This event is free for the kids to attend, but it costs the church a lot to put together. For our last VBS that we put on 3 years ago we spent about $850 usd. We have the costs of all of the materials for the crafts, food (we feed every kid a breakfast… and sometimes the volunteers if we have any left over), and other materials such as sign-in bracelets and nametags, game props, any theme decorations, extra cost for electricity, etc. If you would like to help financially with this event, please click a link below and it will go to helping cover the cost for this outreach.
